Cruise ships are getting bigger and larger, accommodating more passengers, more crew and eventually more facilities. It’s not a boat anymore – it’s a floating city of it’s own. And as with any other type of holiday, cruises are gathering their own fans – people, who like this type of holiday and are willing to pack their bags and spend money on these huge floating machines. The largest cruise ships of today are not just bigger, more powerful and full of  entertainment – they are also independent,  self-sufficient and have incredibly high return for investors! Let’s look at 5 of the biggest cruise ships and what makes them special.

Since it has been delivered in May 2016, Harmony of the Seas is the among the largest cruise ships and most advanced cruise ship in the World! The ship offers ton of entertainment for young and old! Kids will love 3 water slides. There are two rock climbing walls, surf simulators. For clever minds there is escape room type of entertainment called “Puzzle Break: Escape the Rubicon”. Of course, a cruise ship wouldn’t be perfect without great dining – Harmony of the Seas offers 20 spots with something for everyone. First reviews are very positive – but be prepared to find yourself in the middle of a theme park with 5400 other passengers around you. This means crowded pool areas on sea days! Are you getting easily seasick? Try this wrist band, it really helps! Also, as the ship has just been released, there were some minor technical issues, but nothing critical. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

2. Allure of the Seas

Another Oasis-class ship, second biggest in the World, is Allure of the Seas. She holds, however, more passengers – 6400 people can enjoy this wonderful ship simultaneously. The ship is packed with entertainment and facilities – you will find casinos, ice-skating, rock climbing, zip line, jogging track and many other cool facilities. All public spaces are divided into sections with their own unique atmosphere, so it doesn’t feel too overwhelmingly huge. This ship is considered a good pick for first timers.

3. Oasis of the Seas

Launched in 2009 it was the coolest and largest cruise ship in the World at the time. Oasis was the first ship to feature Central Park concept, containing more than 12,000 live plants. The ship features rock climbing walls, basketball court and other sport activities. On the downside, you need to pre book shows and other entertainment as the space is limited. The same goes for specialty dining.


4. Quantum of the Seas

This ship belongs to Quantum class ships and has been re-positioned to China in 2015. The ship offers wide range of sport activities, including Wave Loch Flowrider surf simulator, “RipCord by iFLY”, a skydiving simulator set in a recirculating indoor recreational vertical wind tunnel (needs to be pre booked online). Quantum doesn’t have traditional dining like other RCCL ships, offering Dynamic Dining concept instead – giving guests a choice to make reservations for a new restaurant of their choice each night.

5. Anthem of the Seas

Another Quantum class ship, delivered in 2015. Similarly to Quantum, this beautiful vessel offers a wide variety of entertainment for young and old. Additionally to Wave Loch, rock climbing, RipCord and other sport activities, there is escape room “Puzzle Break”, outdoor pool with a large video screen, indoor “Solarium” with an adults-only pool. The “North Star” observation tower with crane can lift up to 14 passengers to hover 300 feet over the sea level. The ride is totally free, as long as it’s not during sunrise/sunset times. Private groups are also for extra fee.
